For the third year in a row, Melanie was asked to be the Program Director for the Warren Centre’s Humanitarian Innovation Awards program.  This program includes two competitions… The Pitch (Mar – Apr) and The Hackathon (23-25 July).

The 2021 hackathon event was planning to be a Hybrid-event, digital first.  Sydney University was going to be the ‘home’, with RMIT set up as a satellite site.  However on 16 June Sydney got hit by the Delta-strain of COVID-19 and only a few weeks out saw the entire eastern seaboard of Australia move into lockdown.

With very minimal effort, Melanie was able to pivot the hackathon to entirely online.
